Breast Cancer Substance Combats Cancer

Researchers have found that a substance discovered in breast milk can kill cancer cells. Called HAMLET (Human Alpha-lactalbumin Made LEthal to Tumour cells), the substance is a combination of a protein and a fatty acid and was discovered by chance a few years ago when researchers were studying the antibacterial properties of breast milk. Previous laboratory experiments have shown that HAMLET kills 40 different types of cancer. But not until now has it been tested in humans. Recently, a soon-to-be published study in humans demonstrated that introduction of HAMLET into the bladders of patients with bladder cancer decreased the size of tumors, as well as delaying tumor development. Patients who were treated with the substance were found to excrete dead cancer cells in their urine after each treatment. This certainly raises the hope for another possible alternative to cancer therapy. Research is currently assessing the effects of HAMLET on skin and brain cancers.

Breast Implants Associated With Lymphoma

The U.S. FDA has released an executive summary statement regarding their position on the association between breast implants and a rare type of lymphoma called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). The FDA believes that women with breast implants may have a very small, but increased, risk of developing this disease in the scar capsule that forms around the implant. However, based on available data, it cannot be determined whether the implant itself is the actual cause of the disease. Furthermore, it's unclear as to whether any specific types of implants are more associated with ALCL than other types. In order to study this phenomenon further, the FDA and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons will establish a registry of cases of women with breast implants who have been diagnosed with ALCL. At the current time, the FDA is not recommending prophylactic breast implant removal in patients without symptoms or other abnormalities.

Understanding Autism

Autism is not a disease but a condition in which psychological development is disturbed which also result in disturbed perceptions and relationships. It is one of the most common developmental disabilities and ranges in severity from being a simple handicap, which puts simple limits on a normal life, to a devastating disability, which requires institutional care.

Out of every 1,000 children, 6 are affected by autism. The condition usually presents itself during the first three years of life, but some children already show symptoms from birth. Sometimes, babies undergo normal development but show signs later on, usually between their 18th to 36th months. Although autism tends to be more common in boys than in girls, it does not discriminate among race, ethnicity, social boundaries, family income, lifestyle, or educational levels.

The Look Of Beauty – Slim Waist

The feminine beauty has been celebrated across the ages, but an enduring belief is this: what constitutes attractiveness in a woman cannot be pinned down – it depends on the prevailing fashion, culture or ethnicity and on the eye of the beholder.

For instance, in Victorian England, a tiny, puckered mouth was the zenith of pulchritude.

Today, the rosebud look has been replaced by what has been called the trout look, as women in Western cultures strive to make their mouths look as wide and full-lipped as possible.

In many societies, the focus of secondary erogenous zones has roamed over ankles, necks and knees, and makeup and hairstyles change according to the mode.
